Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies — such as browser local storage and session storage — that TradeSwap uses, and what they are for. It reflects what the Platform uses today: strictly necessary items only.
Draft for review. This page is a working draft awaiting solicitor review and has not been legally approved.
1. What we use today
TradeSwap currently uses only cookies and browser storage that are strictly necessary to provide the service you have asked for. We do not use analytics, advertising, social media tracking or profiling cookies, and there are no third-party trackers embedded in the site.
Because these items are strictly necessary, they do not require your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. If we ever add anything non-essential — for example website analytics — we will ask for your consent first through a proper cookie banner, with a genuine option to refuse, and update this policy before it goes live.
2. The items we set
| Item | Type | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-in session | Local storage / cookie | Keeps you signed in and lets the server confirm your identity. Set by our authentication provider (Supabase). | Until you sign out or the session expires (refreshed while you keep using the site) |
| Sign-in continuation | Session storage | Remembers the page you were heading to and that you accepted the Terms, so you land in the right place after signing in. | Cleared when you close the browser tab |
| Security and abuse prevention | Cookie | Set by our hosting platform to deliver pages reliably and block malicious traffic. | Session or short-lived |
| Google sign-in | Third-party cookie | Only if you choose “Continue with Google”. Google sets cookies on its own domain to authenticate you. | Controlled by Google |
Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts to display the TradeSwap typeface. This does not set advertising cookies, but your IP address is visible to that service in order to serve the font files.
3. What we do not use
- No analytics or measurement cookies.
- No advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking.
- No social media pixels or embedded tracking widgets.
- No payment provider cookies at present — no payment provider is connected to the Platform yet.
4. Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies and clear browser storage in your browser settings. Because the items above are strictly necessary, blocking them will stop you signing in or staying signed in, and parts of the Platform will not work.
5. More information
For how we handle personal information generally, see the Privacy Policy. Our wider rules are in the Terms of Use.
